Rheingarten Park

SpringFest

Rheingarten Park is the main White Salmon City park. Lyingvon the west side of Main St between Washington and Lincoln, it was named when the city attempted to adopt a Bavarian theme to increase it’s tourist appeal. That theme was roundly rejected by much of the city, but the park and other vestiges of this period are still prominent around town.

Rheingarten Park is the focal point for several local festivals and public events, including SpringFest, July 4th festivities, concerts, fun runs, and the White Salmon Farmer’s Market. The park boasts a large sports field, tennis courts, picnic pavilion, gazebo, playground, recycling/composting demonstration plot, restrooms, and a large office building housing the school district offices, the Underwood Conservation District, and leased office space. It is adjacent to Whitson Elementary School, the current White Salmon City Pool, and is near the proposed new pool location.

The park is actually owned by the White Salmon School District and is leased to the the city for a nominal fee and in exchange for park maintenance.
